The conference, organized by the Institute of National Remembrance for the 66th anniversary of the assassination of Ciepielów Kowalski family, was presented educational package "Poles who saved Jews during World War II" and fragments of a history lesson devoted to methods of saving Jews, carried out earlier on the basis of teaching materials contained therein. The first lessons of history were carried out using the package at the Lyceum of the Stefan Batory Foundation in Warsaw.
educational purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness that hundreds of thousands of Poles to rescue Jews, despite the threat of the death penalty. IPN calculates that to save one Jew, were involved in an average of 20 Poles. About a thousand Poles had paid for his life.
Educational package
IEP includes the texts and pictures of Poles who saved Jews. There are also materials about Irena Sendler, a Polish families of those who paid with their lives for hiding Jews. The photos are TECE Jewish hideouts, but also denunciations of fellow citizens on those who saved Jews. It is also the notice of the German authorities: "Every Pole or Ukrainian who adopt a Jew at home, feed him and hide, will be shot."
action is part of the socio-educational campaign "Life for life." The campaign was launched in September by the IPN and the National Cultural Centre.
